For two days, Cartagena became the meeting point for the region’s leading financial sector figures. Asobancaria’s 16th Congress on Access to Financial Services and Payment Methods (CAMP) brought together banks, fintechs, public agencies, and technology providers to analyze how innovation, data, and technology are redefining the way financial services operate.
From the outset, the event made it clear that the conversation about the sector’s future is no longer limited to trends or technological promises. Today, the debate centers on how to transform financial operations in concrete ways, ensuring inclusion, efficiency, and trust in an increasingly digital environment.
In this context, three concepts ran through the event’s agenda: transformation, innovation, and connection.
A financial system in the middle of a transformation
The financial industry is undergoing a period of profound change. New business models, such as neobanks and digital platforms, are redefining the relationship between users and financial services.
During CAMP, key topics were discussed, including the evolution of digital payments, the adoption of artificial intelligence in financial processes, the growth of Open Finance, and the challenges posed by fraud prevention in an increasingly real-time environment. Panels and conferences covered topics ranging from cross-border payments to the impact of generative AI in areas such as collections and risk management.
At the same time, the conversation also brought to the table one of the sector’s major challenges: how to expand access to the financial system without compromising security or operational stability.
Financial inclusion, re-banking, and the integration of new players into the ecosystem were recurring themes during the sessions, highlighting that the growth of the financial system will increasingly depend on its ability to connect technology, regulation, and user experience.
Innovation in operations
One of the clearest messages from the event was that financial innovation no longer occurs solely in new products or user-facing applications.
In today’s context, true transformation takes place within the infrastructure that supports financial services.
Processing payments in real time, integrating multiple networks and participants, managing risks in milliseconds, or enabling new models for issuing payment instruments requires technological architectures capable of operating with agility, security, and scalability.
In other words, innovation today occurs in the way financial ecosystems are designed and managed. This involves rethinking the sector’s technological architecture: from the card core, which enables new models for issuing and customizing financial products, to payment orchestration platforms, which allow for the integration of networks, channels, and participants within a single transactional flow.
In this new landscape, security and data protection are no longer additional layers but have become structural components of the system.
Connecting the Latin American Financial Ecosystem
If one thing became clear at CAMP 2026, it is that the future of the financial sector will inevitably be more connected. Banks, fintechs, payment networks, merchants, and regulatory bodies are building an increasingly interdependent ecosystem, where collaboration and interoperability are key to enabling new services.
The expansion of digital payments, the adoption of Open Finance models, and the development of infrastructures such as instant payment systems are accelerating this interconnection; however, connecting the ecosystem also brings new challenges: greater operational complexity, increased exposure to fraud, and stricter regulatory requirements.
For this reason, one of the major discussions at the event centered on how to build technological infrastructures capable of integrating innovation without losing control or visibility over operations, while strengthening user protection.
In this context, CLAI PAYMENTS® Technologies participated in CAMP 2026, sharing its vision on how financial institutions can strengthen their operations through technological architectures designed for modern payment ecosystems.
Our proposal is based on a clear principle: the evolution of the financial system does not depend solely on new solutions, but on how they are integrated and coordinated within a common architecture.
Thats why, at CLAI PAYMENTS® Technologies, we develop platforms that combine three core capabilities essential to today’s financial operations:
- Issuance of payment instruments enabled by a flexible card core system like EVERYCARD®, which allows for the rapid launch and management of financial products.
- Payment orchestration that integrates networks, stakeholders, and transaction flows within a single operational environment using AZ7®.
- Transactional reconciliation and clearing that automates the validation and comparison of transactions among the various participants in the ecosystem through RECONPRIME®.
- Security, data protection, and fraud detection built into the infrastructure design to strengthen trust and operational resilience through CRYPTGRID™.
This vision directly addresses the challenges discussed during the event: how to scale innovation, how to integrate new business models, and how to ensure user trust in an increasingly complex financial ecosystem.
Shaping the Future Through Architecture
CAMP 2026 reached a clear conclusion: the future of the financial system will not depend solely on new technologies, but on the industry’s ability to design infrastructures that enable their secure and sustainable integration.
Transforming, innovating, and connecting are no longer abstract concepts. They are operational challenges that require platforms capable of evolving alongside the ecosystem.
At CLAI PAYMENTS® Technologies, we continue to actively participate in these discussions, convinced that the evolution of the financial sector is built on collaboration between banks, fintechs, and technology providers. In an environment where payments are becoming faster, data more valuable, and threats more sophisticated, trust cannot be improvised. Trust, now more than ever, is built into the architecture.
