Fintech Americas 2026: Trends Redefining the Financial Industry

The financial industry is undergoing one of the most profound transformations in its recent history. Digital acceleration, the emergence of new technologies, and evolving user expectations are forcing institutions to rethink their technological infrastructure, operational models, and approach to innovation.

Against this backdrop, a new edition of Fintech Americas 2026 brought together banking leaders, fintechs, technology providers, and industry experts in Miami to discuss the challenges and opportunities that will shape the future of the financial system on the continent.

The event brought together more than 1,750 executives from over 45 countries, who participated in more than 130 sessions and discussions led by over 200 international speakers, making the event one of the most influential platforms for analyzing financial innovation in Latin America.

Over three days of conferences, panels, and networking opportunities, the event once again established itself as one of the most important platforms for analyzing where the industry is headed and what capabilities institutions will need to remain competitive in an increasingly digital environment.

Among the participants was CLAI PAYMENTS® Technologies, which took part in this forum for discussion and exchange with key players in the region’s financial ecosystem.

A meeting place for the financial ecosystem

More than just a conference, Fintech Américas has established itself as a forum where different visions of the future of financial services converge.

The diversity of the ecosystem present also reflected the complexity of today’s financial system. Attendees included banks, financial institutions, fintechs, technology companies, consulting firms, and regulators, which enabled a multidimensional conversation about the sector’s future.

According to event data, nearly 40% of attendees came from technology companies, followed by representatives from banks and financial institutions, fintechs, consulting firms, and public sector agencies—demonstrating how financial innovation is increasingly being built through collaborative ecosystems involving multiple stakeholders.

The event agenda addressed multiple dimensions of the sector’s transformation: from the adoption of artificial intelligence to the evolution of the technological infrastructure that supports financial operations.

Among the key topics discussed were:

  • Artificial intelligence applied to financial services.

  • Technological modernization and systems architecture.

  • The evolution of digital payments.

  • Digital identity and fraud prevention.

  • Customer experience and digital growth.

  • Open financial ecosystems.

These themes reflect an increasingly evident reality: financial innovation does not depend solely on new technological tools, but on organizations’ ability to integrate those capabilities into flexible and scalable architectures.

Artificial Intelligence: Purpose-Driven Innovation in the Financial Sector

One of the most recurring themes during the event was the impact of artificial intelligence on the financial sector. In recent years, this technology has evolved from an experimental promise into a concrete tool for optimizing multiple processes within institutions.

During various sessions, participants discussed how banks are using artificial intelligence models to improve fraud detection, automate operational processes, strengthen risk analysis, and offer more personalized experiences to customers.

However, one of the clearest messages from the event was that the adoption of artificial intelligence in the financial sector cannot be viewed solely as a technological implementation, but rather as a strategic decision that must balance innovation, efficiency, and risk management.

At CLAI PAYMENTS® Technologies, this vision is realized through AXIA™, an advanced artificial intelligence layer designed to strengthen fraud prevention within the transactional ecosystem.

AXIA™ integrates machine learning models trained on the bank’s actual transaction behavior to analyze transactions in real time, identify atypical patterns, and generate intelligent alerts. This approach enables threats to be detected with greater speed and accuracy, while reducing false positives and optimizing the work of anti-fraud analysis teams.

The goal is not merely to incorporate artificial intelligence into financial operations, but to do so responsibly and strategically: streamlining decision-making without unnecessarily exposing institutions or their cardholders to risk, and ensuring that new layers of technology do not become obstacles to business growth.

Under this approach, artificial intelligence ceases to be an isolated experiment and becomes a layer of optimization within the financial infrastructure, capable of anticipating risks, improving security, and strengthening the resilience of the payments ecosystem.

Technological Modernization: A Structural Challenge for Banking

Another central theme of the event was the modernization of the financial sector’s technological infrastructure.

Many institutions continue to operate on legacy systems that, while robust, were designed in a technological context very different from today’s. The growing demand for digital services, real-time payments, and omnichannel experiences has put pressure on these infrastructures, driving the need to evolve toward more flexible models.

In this landscape, an increasing number of organizations are adopting modular architectures based on APIs, cloud infrastructure, and platforms capable of integrating with various players in the financial ecosystem.

This approach enables innovation without compromising operational stability, making it easier to incorporate new capabilities as market needs evolve.

Digital Payments and New Transaction Models

Payments remain one of the main drivers of financial innovation.

The growth of digital payments, e-wallets, and new transaction infrastructures is redefining how users interact with financial services. At the same time, institutions face the challenge of integrating multiple payment channels and ensuring fast, secure, and consistent experiences.

During the event, participants discussed how the evolution of payment infrastructure requires platforms capable of efficiently orchestrating different financial systems, networks, and services.

In this context, interoperability and integration capabilities have become key factors in the development of new business models in the financial sector.

Security, Digital Identity, and Trust

As financial services become digitized, security and identity management are becoming increasingly important.

Financial institutions must balance the need to offer seamless experiences with the obligation to protect information and prevent fraudulent activities. Technologies such as biometrics, behavioral analysis, and advanced authentication models are emerging as fundamental tools for strengthening digital trust.

Security should no longer be viewed merely as an additional layer of protection, but as a central component in the design of financial platforms.

CLAI PAYMENTS® Technologies’ participation in Fintech Americas provided an opportunity to exchange perspectives with industry leaders on the current challenges facing financial infrastructure and the role that technology platforms play in the industry’s evolution.

Events like this offer an opportunity to connect with financial institutions, explore new opportunities for collaboration, and analyze how technological trends are impacting the development of payment and financial processing solutions

In a context where financial innovation increasingly depends on integration among different ecosystem players, these spaces for conversation are essential for building shared visions of the sector’s future.

Looking toward the future of the financial ecosystem

Discussions at Fintech Americas 2026 made it clear that the convergence of artificial intelligence, digital infrastructure, security, and open collaboration models is redefining how institutions design and deliver their services.

For organizations in the financial sector, the challenge lies not only in adopting new technologies but also in developing architectures that enable constant evolution in an environment of perpetual change.

In this context, events like Fintech Americas play a crucial role: connecting the leaders driving the sector’s transformation and fostering conversations that help anticipate the next stages of financial innovation in the Americas.
